The bus connections to Oulu are smooth and convenient from the nearby municipalities and from elsewhere in Finland. The city's bus station is located around 400 metres from the centre.

The railway station is also right there, very close to the bus station. It's a mere 300 metres from the railway station to the centre of Oulu.

The airport of Oulu is the second busiest airport in Finland. The distance from the airport to the centre of Oulu is 15 kilometres, and the airport is served by regular buses. There are direct flights to Oulu from Helsinki, Rovaniemi, and Kemi-Tornio.

The Oulu harbour is one of the leading forest industry and unit load harbours of the Bay of Bothnia. It is where freight shipments leave and enter Oulu all year long.
