It˙ll easily take you the whole day to walk
around the city centre˙s shopping streets, Market
Square˙s booths and Stockmann department store. The
Limingantulli area has several department stores,
and Kempele, south of Oulu, boasts the Zeppelin
shopping centre and Biltema department store.
City Centre˙s Shopping Streets
Shopping in Oulu is couldn˙t be more convenient
as businesses, stores, cafés, and restaurants are
all located just a short walk apart. The city
centre˙s shopping streets are Rotuaari, Isokatu,
Uusikatu, Kauppurienkatu, Pakkahuoneenkatu and
Hallituskatu.
Shopping Centres Near and Far
The salvation of a rainy day can be good shopping
at a great shopping centre. You can find shopping
centres near the centre in Raksila and a short drive
away at the Taka-Lyötty and Limingantulli regions. A
bit further south from the centre you˙ll find the
shopping centre of Kaakkuri and the Kempeele
shopping centre of Zeppelin.
The IKEA department store is less than two hours
drive away on the Swedish side of the border in
Haaparanta.
Market Hall and Market Square
When you find the Rotuaari, you˙ll also find the Market Hall and Market Square. You can get to the Market Hall and Market Square easily from the Rotuaari by walking along the Kauppurienkatu. The stalls at the square with the Market Hall and the numerous booths in summer time offer great shopping opportunities. While you˙re shopping, don˙t forget the many cafés and restaurants offering refreshments along Market Square.

Treasures can often be found in second hand stores. Searching for those treasures in Oulu is easy. The traditional Laatukirpputori store in Hiukkavaara is one of the oldest and most popular meeting places for sellers and buyers. There is also plenty to choose from for those who prefer self-help second hand stores, ask the Tourist office for a list!
